The temperatures have dropped a little bit here in SF, and the skies have been a little cloudier than we are used to, so of course that has us thinking of tropical getaways and warms nights by the ocean. On top of that, we just got a new shipment of exotic prints, and the loud colors and sexy styles make us crave a week in Miami, hitting the beach and strutting under neon lights at night. Wherever you’re escaping for your tropical retreat, stop by Retail Therapy to try on some of the following looks, or to get some other vacation-worthy outfits!
The first dress is an ethnic print worthy of the Queen of Sheba, but comfortable enough for day or night. Either pair this colorful trapeze style dress with bejewled sandals for a day of cocktails in the sun, or sling on some sky high wedges to start your night on the town at the right height. The deep slit at the neck in the back gives bystanders something to remember as you pass them by, too.
We’ve got another romper! And we know how happy that makes you, and we love them, too. This one’s got a wild print, a plunging neckline, a little ruffle on the hem and sleeves, and a slight bell-sleeve style. It’s wild, it’s fun, it’s even a little retro, and it’s perfect for a night of dancing.
This next piece is not a perfect print like the previous two, but rather a neon orange that will stop everyone in their tracks. After a day in the Miami sun, throw this glowing frock on to bring out your tan, and enjoy as jaws drop. And, it has an amazing back to make it even better. We say this can go day or night with some gold accessories and hair slicked back.
The last look is a little more casual, but… palm trees. Need we say more? We will, just in case. These adorable linen shorts have tiny little black palm trees (can you get more Miami?), a drawstring so you can wear them on the hips or at your waist, and are such a flattering style that they can definitely be dressed up for down. We’ve got them paired with a fluttery tub top, so this is probably more of a beach day look. Pair them with a slinky black camisole, and you’re good to go for dinner by the water.
So, now that we’ve got you planning your next tropical getaway, come on down to grab these items, and more, before they’re all gone and you’re chic-less in Miami!
Spring is the season of letting go and starting fresh. There is nothing more therapeutic than cleaning out your closet; out with the old, in with the new. After all is said and done, you step back to admire all of your hard work and you can’t help but get a sense that you are renewed as well. We here at Retail Therapy hope you give yourself a moment to recognize this. Take a deep breath, close your eyes, smell the scent of flowers drift in the air, and know that as the seasons change, so do you. As the flowers bloom, so do you. Allow yourself to be open to the endless possibilities and new adventures summer may bring. We can think of no better way to prepare than to have a few fresh frocks and fun new outfits.
Let’s face it- we’ve all said it. The ultimate excuse, the never-ending clothes-but-no-clothes-crisis, and the cry heard ’round the world: “I have nothing to wear”. Out of all of the things that could hold you back from enjoying these warm days, your clothes should not be one of them. You’re much more likely to say “yes” to any spontaneous invitations if you have something you are excited about wearing. A sundress could be like your knight in shinning armor, twirling with you out the door, and saving you from hiding away in your home watching Netflix all day. This floral beauty can be thrown on at the spur of the moment with a messy top-knot, some Wayfarers, and some broken-in sandals for a quick, flirty look. The only accessories you’d need are a great tan and a cross-body to throw everything in at the last moment. Or, give yourself some more time, put some curls in that mane of yours, step into some strappy wedges and finish it off with a ladylike purse (like this amazing Lush Leather cutie we’re donning here) and you’re ready to go for a brunch date in the sun or even a bridal shower.
Speaking of bridal showers- wedding season is definitely starting, isn’t it? Well, lucky for you, you can wear white to a bridal shower, and even luckier for you, we’ve got the most darling white dress ever. This Catherine Malandrino sheath dress is as soft as it is sweet, and could be worn with any sort of bright colors, or toughened up a bit with black accessories. Maybe even cinch it at the waist with a belt for some contrast.
And for the ultimate Spring awakening outfit to lead you right into the summer months, try this shorts-cami combo. With a fresh bouquet of exotic flowers and a light as cherry blossoms tank to match, this look is girly, fun, and easy to wear to the park or the beach. Pair it with flats or heels; cover up with a biker jacket or a chunky cardigan; carry a clutch at night or a boho bucket bag for day. You won’t be able to help but stop and smell the roses in this getup!
So, when you start clearing out your closet and need some ideas for fresh fashion, breeze by 2086 Chestnut for some refreshing Retail Therapy!
As you all well know, we here at Retail Therapy cannot get enough of wild prints and fun patterns. But, there is something to be said about basics. To be honest, they get a bad rep with that name. “Basic” sounds so… boring. But, in reality, they are anything but. A basic white tee can be worn with a leather mini-skirt to create an chic, alternative look. And what goes better with your printed palazzo pants? A solid, black camisole, right? Of course, the best canvas for a bright red lip (which we never tire of) is always jeans and a tee. So, basics may be “basic” but they can be real game changers, too. So, we’re giving them the credit they deserve in this post, and of course, showing you some amazing looks that we’ve got here at 2086 Chestnut. Just some basic Retail Therapy, ya know?
The other great thing about basics is that you really notice details much more when they are set against a simple background. For example, this Alexander Wang crew neck t-shirt. From afar, it looks like a very soft, very flattering t-shirt, right? Well, it is that, no doubt about it (C’mon, it’s so flattering that our personal shopper here felt comfortable enough to actually show her face!). But take a closer look at it and you can see that it has very fine ribbing and a sheer collar that would probably go unnoticed in a different style. And, look how amazing this simple yet beautiful London Manori double ring gold-filled necklace looks resting upon the soft, heather grey of the t-shirt.
Anyone who thinks basics are black, white, and boring could not be more wrong. This feather-weight, army green tee is anything but boring. For one thing, the color is universally flattering, and should pretty much be a staple in anyone’s closet since it goes with everything (even different shades of the same color!), and the high-low hem and flowing shape create a shirt that can be worn dressed up with some nice trousers and heels, or dressed down with boyfriend jeans and a scarf for coffee in the sun. And, we couldn’t help but throw in another London Manori necklace to show how pretty this top looks with a little bit of bling.
This tank top is definitely not your typical white tank top. The ribbing and soft fabric are that of your favorite t-shirt, but the grecian inspired draping is unique and can be worn for a night out or a morning in. What’s really great about this top is that the draping in the front hides any sort of lumps or bumps that sometimes white t-shirts tend to highlight. The bag we’ve paired it with is a fun twist on a basic hand-bag in that it can also be worn as a backpack. Who’s basic now?
For this last look we are digging into the personal closet of one of our personal shoppers. She has paired her Retail Therapy grey crop top with a striped, jersey pencil skirt and her favorite booties. Now, when you see this outfit, do you say “Look how boring that t-shirt is!” or “Look how cute that simple t-shirt looks with that skirt!”? That’s what we thought.
So, come into Retail Therapy on 2086 Chestnut Street to replenish your basics supply, and to try out some different outfit ideas with our expert stylists!
Festival season is upon us, and the mismatched mavens and sparkle unicorns are starting to rear their trippy heads as the weather gets warmer and the hype gets hotter. As excited as we are about the fashion and the music, we can’t help but long for a simpler time, when music wasn’t about fashion, but about music! Woodstock epitomized the flower child- not just the clothes, but the attitude. As a matter of fact, the clothing was very unimportant (c’mon, we’ve all seen the photos of the bare-bottomed men and women dancing around in the mud). Ok, ok,we’re reminiscing of a time long gone, so let’s get back to the issue at hand- festival fashion. This year, we’re not going to get dressed with our eyes closed in hopes of having the most outrageous outfit. We’re going to pay homage to hippies, and wear some Woodstock-inspired pieces, like the ones you’ll see below!
The first piece we’ve got is a simple tank. It looks great paired with skinny jeans, as we’ve done here, but it would also be great with cut-off shorts. It’s so soft, and hangs just perfectly in the front and the back that it’s just slinky enough without revealing too much. And the navy blue and white floral print inspires peace, love, and happiness in anyone who takes this cami home with her.
Speaking of cut-off shorts, we’ve paired our Retail Therapy Signature 8 high-rise cut off denim shorts with this flower-power crop top. The cap sleeves can be worn on, or as we’re showing here, off the shoulders for a super-cool, laid-back look. Pair the whole look with black tights, booties, and your very own aqua impala, and you’re good to go for the road to Coachella.
The next look is free love at its finest, with dolman sleeves and a short hemline. It can be worn as a dress or a tunic, and paired with sandals or slouchy boots, it’s perfect for listening to music in the sun. And speaking of flowing dresses, this last one epitomizes boho-chic with low cut neckline in the front and back, adjustable straps, and an uneven hem. It’s so airy and free that it even has our personal shopper giggling gleefully in the sun.
Before starting your festival frenzy, come into Retail Therapy on 2086 Chestnut Street in the Marina and stock up on Woodstock wear!
You’ve probably noticed that after every NYFW a new print trend emerges- moody florals, camo, polka dots, etc.- but leopard never goes away. Leopard is always there for you, much like an LBD, a good friend, or your favorite pair of heels. You can wear it with just about anything as an accessory, or you can make it your entire outfit. It’s practically a neutral! Today we are featuring three different leopard looks that could work for different occasions, ages, or personalities. Read on to figure out which spotted look works best for you, and come into the store to see some more options!
This weather has us loving shorts and short skirts, so it’s no wonder we’re so obsessed with these navy and tan leopard print shorts! These are very versatile because they can be dressed up with some sky-high heels and an embellished tank, especially since the style of shorts almost looks like a fluttery skirt, or dressed down, as we have done here. Pair these wild yet tame shorts with a cream, crochet sweater like this one and you’ve got a great daytime outfit perfect for the park or the market. Some basic, tan sandals go perfectly with the intricate back of this sweater, too. These shorts would also look great, too, with a basic white tank and an orange lip. So many options with a little leopard!
The next look is for the sophisticated risk taker. This incredibly flattering DVF short sleeve dress looks amazing on its own with a pair of black pumps, but could also be covered up for the office with a black blazer, or relaxed a little with a moto-inspired black leather jacket. And, like all DVF, it’s so flattering!
This next one is the same print as the last (and obviously the same genius designer) but look how simply changing the style changes the entire mood of the look. This classic DVF wrap dress is like the big sister of the first dress. With long sleeves and a forgiving tie waist, this dress is flattering and perfect for the office. Or, throw on some flats and it’s perfect for lunch with the ladies.
Come into the store right meow to see all our other leopard looks, or to get your hands on some DVF at incredible prices! Whatever it may be, we’ve got the purrfect piece for you.
